Formulate a hypothesis to explain this phenomena: Plants in your backyard are dying off rapidly.
This hypothesis must be specific, falsifiable, and should be based on other scientific work. Many different hypothesis could work here!
Instructor solution
A few example hypotheses could be:
- A new invasive species of insect or fungus is attacking the plants.
- A sudden frost has killed the plants that are not used to those conditions.
- A toxic chemical released into the soil and the plants can no longer survive.
It doesn't matter what your hypothesis was, what matters is that is it specific and testable.
