What is a virtual machine?
Instructor solution
A virtual machine is an operating system environment that is not tied to physical hardware. It is possible to install multiple operating systems on a computer by using virtualization tools (e.g., Parallels, VMware, and VirtualBox. Parallels and VMware cost money, but VirtualBox is free). The University makes several virtual machines available online through a service called Apporto: https://arizona.apporto.com/
