Intend4 Container

You have created a BIDS dataset and seen some of the details of the naming and organization.
You have examined the JSON sidecars that accompany each BIDS image.
You have now learned about the importance of susceptibility distortion correction.
For many BIDS apps (fmriprep and qsiprep as of 03/04/2024) you must ensure the JSON files include exactly the right content so that the app knows which files are to be used to correct particular epi images. The following lesson walks you through one way of doing that.

You won't always need this!

Depending on how you did your conversion from DICOM to BIDS, you may already have populated the IntendedFor field, and this step would not be necessary. For example, ezBIDS allows you to specify the IntendedFor field and it should already have the correct JSON file entries. However, heudiconv, at least as we implemented it here, does not populate the IntendedFor field and so the data DOES benefit from this Intend4 tool.

In the intend4 tutorial, you'll use a Docker container and a small dataset (it has real JSON files but empty image files).
Intend4 is a simple tool that can help with the most common cases of specifying susceptibility distortion correction for BIDS datasets: field maps for correcting fMRI, and RPE images for correcting DWI.
