Module Overview

In Module 16, we will provide an overview of disorders of childhood. Please note that a more comprehensive discussion can be found in our Behavioral Disorders of Childhood book (https://opentext.wsu.edu/behavioral-disorders-childhood/). Section 16.1 will cover the following disorders of infancy and early childhood to include disinhibited social engagement disorder, reactive attachment disorder, pica, rumination disorder, and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder, enuresis, and encopresis. In Section 16.2 we will discuss developmental and motor-related disorders to include intellectual developmental disorder (intellectual disability), specific learning disorder, autism spectrum disorder, social (pragmatic) communication disorder, stereotypic movement, and tic disorders.

In Section 16.3 we cover behavior-related disorders to include ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder, and intermittent explosive disorder. Finally, Section 16.4 will cover select disorders not previously presented in this book in previous sections. These disorders include the anxiety disorders of selective mutism and separation anxiety disorder and the obsessive-compulsive and related disorders of trichotillomania, and excoriation disorder.

Note that completion of the review assignment may include answering as few as 2 questions correctly. As such, it should not be time consuming but you are encouraged to finish the review assignment fully as this will better prepare you for the exam in the class (i.e. taken in the course space, not OpenClass).
To prepare for the review assignment, we encourage you to find answers for all section learning objectives in the module. Once you do, study them as they are the basis of the open-ended portion of each question in the review assignment. Once you answer, review the feedback we have provided and then answer the multiple choice portion testing that content. If answered correctly, you earn points toward completing the review assignment. All review assignments for this textbook will run exactly the same. Notice that the relevant sections of the textbook for each question in the review assignment have been uploaded for you. This will help you to review the content if you answered incorrectly.
Upon finishing the Sections 16.1 - 16.4. Review Assignment the Module 16 Quiz will open. Take it seriously as earning 85% mastery will grant you 5 points for this module work. If you earn less than 85% you will still earn 2 points. You only earn no points if you do not attempt the quiz. And unless you complete the review assignments, you cannot access the quiz so you must work through them all to earn points on the quiz.
In all, the OpenClass work for this module, and all modules, is worth up to 10 points toward your final grade in the class.
