Intro

Now that the village is ready, we can work on spawning iron golems and snow golems to help in the raids.

If we look at the spawn block (in the "mobs" category), you'll notice there is no option to spawn an iron golem or snow golem.

Luckily there is an alternative way of spawning these mobs.

In Minecraft, you can build an iron golem with 3 blocks of iron and a pumpkin.
A snow golem can be built with two blocks of snow and a pumpkin.

The pictures below don't use a pumpkin so that you can see the configuration, but you need to use pumpkins.

Iron Golems

We can spawn an iron golem in 3 steps.

place an iron block at the bottom
place a row of 3 blocks above the first block
place a pumpkin on top

In code, that will look like this. Notice that the golem is built 4 blocks in front of the player so that the blocks don't suffocate the player.

Multiple Golems:

If we want 20 iron golems, we'd have to type "iron" 20 times. How can we spawn more iron golems at once?

First, we can add a parameter at the end of the chat command that lets the player type "iron" followed by the number of golems they want.

Note: to make num1 appear on the chat command block, you click the '+' sign. To find the red num1 block, got to variables.

Then we can add a repeat block to run the mod num1 amount of times. Now, the user can run the command iron 20 for 20 golems.

Test the mod. You'll see that the problem with this approach is that every golem will spawn in the exact same spot and overcrowd that location, slowing down the creation of new golems significantly. A much faster approach is to build the golems in a row.

With this approach, the steps now become:

1.place a row of iron blocks. It starts at 4 blocks in front of the player and ends at 4 +num1 blocks in front

2. create a plate of iron blocks on top. The plate will start at 1 block to the left and 4 in front. It ends at 1 block to the right and 4 + in front.

2. create a plate of iron blocks on top. The plate will start at 1 block to the left and 4 in front. It ends at 1 block to the right and 4 + num1 in front.

3. place a row of pumpkins on top of the plate.

For this step, we'll build this plate 1 block higher than step 1.

Step 3

This step is the same as step 1, it just uses pumpkins and is 2 blocks above.

After studying these pictures, you will be able to fill in the necessary numbers for the example code below. Make sure to use the keep setting for the fill with block so that your mod can't accidentally destroy things.

Snow Golems

After completing the mod for the iron golems, you'll know everything you need to complete a similar mod for snow golems. When you are done, type the commands "iron 20" and then "snow 20". Your results should be similar to the ones below.
