Variable.

A variable is a name used to store data (information).

Example:

Variables can be different types:

A data type is an attribute of data which tells the computer how the programmer intends to use the data. It can be a number, a text, etc.

These are the basic data types:

Integer: whole numbers (negative or positive). Example: age = 5
Float: decimal numbers. Example: temperature = - 35.0
String: text or words. Example: name = “John Doe”
Boolean: logic data type with only 2 options (True or False). Example: GameOver = False

In programming, you can forcefully convert a variable's data type to another. It is called type-casting.
