How your DWI data might differ

- You are most likely to alter the number of directions, the number of shells, and the number of B0 images.

- You might increase the number of directions from 32 to 64 (or even higher) to acquire higher-quality information. This will considerably increase the time it takes to acquire the sequence.

- This is single-shell data: B=1000. That means that there is only one B-value (other than 0). You may choose a multishell data acquisition scheme. For example, 3-shell data is common: B=1000, B=2000, and B=3000 to improve the data. In particular, multi-shell schemes allow you to improve the modeling of the diffusion signal. Pine (2020) reports that compared to single-shell diffusion, multi-shell diffusion in conjunction with contemporary modeling techniques was robust and advantageous for their neurodevelopmental studies.

- You may include more B0 images (these are base images used to correct distortions in the DWI sequence). The time increase associated with adding a few more B0 images is minimal and should improve the end result.
